you dont neccesarily have to severe your ties and forget about your roots, BUT what they want you to do is think like a bean counter and seem as though you are a feeling-less drone in an office chair ...    lol.  what they want out of a supervisor is someone that can fire the same guy that helped him get to the spot where he is. you dont have to like the firing aspect, but you cant let it eat you up either. i say keep your kinship with the other lineman, but you must be able to seperate your love of the job from the friendship you've created. let your boys know how it works and just go on with life OR quit management and get your gear back on....
