Re: After Supporting Medicare Cuts Through Reconci

Why is auto insurance a requirement? Auto insurance is a requirement in case you cause an accident. If you don't have auto insurance and cause an accident, who is going to pay the medical expenses and costs to repair/replace the damage that was done to the person that you hit? If some one else hits you and they don't have insurance, who is going to pay your medical expenses and costs to repair/replace the damage that was done? Too many people were causing bodily injury accidents with no means to pay damages. That is exactly why auto insurance became mandatory.

God forbid, what will happen if you get sick and have to go to the hospital? With the average stay of 5 days at a cost of $4000 per day including tests. If you don't have insurance, how are you going to pay for that hospital stay? I don't know very many people who have $20,000 tucked away somewhere, do you? Let's say you decide to make payments to the hospital of $250.00 per month. It would take almost 7 years to pay it off. In the mean time the hospital can't wait for the money, so they have to raise rates for every body else. You could file bankruptcy (which 62% did last year). If you file bankruptcy, the hospital doesn't get paid and has to raise rates for everybody else. You could just not pay your bill. If you don't pay your bill, the hospital doesn't get paid and has to raise rates for every body else. Just like any business, these losses are passed on to every one else.

If every one has health insurance, costs will come down.
