Re: Company trucks GPS

The key word in the header for this thread is "company truck" It's their truck, they can do whatever they want to protect their assets which are not just their trucks, but also the time they are paying you for. Now if your smart you can use that to your advantage as well if you are not being paid just compensation for overtime as an employee as those GPS records could be subpoenaed if you simply keep a log of which vehicle you drove and when you drove it.

But simply put it's a company truck, you're not a contractor, you're an employee and you essentially sell your time and labor. If you want to be a contractor get your own truck, and tools, and GL insurance, and business license, and go out and get your own work in whatever services you are good at and you can come and go as you please.   We all need to examine our positions in the work world and be honest with our own selves when we make that judgment if we are a real contractor, or an employee.  You may be getting paid piece work, but if your using the mans truck, tools, and other equipment, and have their company name on the vehicle and on any type uniform then you are an employee and should carry yourself as such, and make sure you are treated that way as well.
