Remind your employer about the "Portal-to-Portal Act of 1947". That should stop them from deducting time from your pay sheet (except for your arranged lunch time).
If you are an employee of the company and driving thier vehicle, you are not off the clock until you have completed your last task of the day. If you have to park the company van in the company yard, then walk to the building to punch out ...Punching out is your last task and THAT is when your work day ends. If you take that company van home each night, then you are not off the clock until you are parked at your house. He can only deduct time for breaks, if over 10mins each in length, and for whatever has been agreed on for lunch. Usually 30 or 60mins. It's the Law and your company owner knows it.
If you're taking side trips you shouldn't be taking, don't be surprised when they fire you. You are working and on the clock from the first task of the day until the last task of the day.
More information is available at the Department of Labor - Hour & Wage Division website. It's a good place to read up on.
