I am a sub in AL. There are two us and about 12 employees and the main difference is that the company is not responsible for our welfare, they reap the real benefits. We are treated the same as employees in just about every area but this, we are financially responsible for all areas of our contact work. They pay us a slightly higher piece rate, but in the long run they gain about 34 percent of your annual wage, in the form of not paying out to the gov. any money for labor expenses, or taxes. It is in their best interest to work a sub harder than an employee less money for them to pay out.
