I am reminded of a lawyer who was asked the question "Can he sue me?" The lawyer responded "Anyone with $75 and a map to the courthouse can sue you"
I would think you would have legitimate complaint unless they had something other than your past to base your termination on.
Based on the question you only gave them permission to check back 7 years.
