Temping the feeder is exactly what I did. I temped the bad span and so far it looks like that fixed the problem. However, before I start doing backflips, I want to monitor it for a couple days. As far as "seeing" issues on the meter, you're right in line with what I saw: nothing, nada, zilch. No problems at all. The only thing that tipped me off was the leak meter displaying a 50 uVM leak and a TDR showing a small notch right at the same spot of the leak. We'll see how it progresses.
It's a pretty cool little problem though. I will say that much. I grew up in this business with the philosophy of my meter being my eyes and my ears. In this case, the meter doesn't help... at all.
