So cable data is basically the same as computer data?  Are cable companies usually considered WAN and if so what protocols do they use transmit data .  I know, well I guess that they use regional bell carriers to transmit their data but how is the data encapsulated.  Also where does the info I am learning now fit in.  Protocols such as frame relay, ethernet, token righ, fddi and etc. fit in where as far as cable networks go.  What type of fields in the cable industry have to know and demonstrate this knowledge.
