Go to the people who told you that you were a w-2 employee. Ask for a company handbook or manual immediately. Most companies ask that you sign that you received it. Did you complete a W-4 form for federal tax withholding ? Are you eligible for any other traditional benefits that any other employee of the company would receive ? Holiday pay ? Health Insurance ? What did you sign or receive when they told you that your status changed ? Does the company have an Human Resources person, contac them immediately, and be sure to tell this person you will get a lawyer. When you say W - 2 employee, the state and Uncle Sam look up fast.
