I have done most aspects of cable tv in my 20 year experience as a underpaid cable dawg. I disagree with the lineman is the engine and the most important part of the train. If it were not for the rest of the troops in all intertwined parts of the job there would be no lineman. We are all engines pulling each other. There was a time when putting in a cable modem paid 100.00 per modem. 3 to 4 thousand dollars a week was not uncommon. Of course being supervisor and doing the routing did not hurt. Same thing with lineman, money was good back in the day. In my experience the in house always look down at the contractor, sub contractor and sub of a sub of a sub contractor. Those were the day's.
