If you provided labor at a house it is the responsibility of the owner to make sure you get paid. It sucks - but that's the law.  The lien is for labor not materials (though materials can be included) that's why it's called a mechanics lien. You do not have to got through any "steps".
If you didn't get paid file an "intent to file lien". It's a lot cheaper and it usually has the same effect. Notify the person that owes you (if it's a contractor) the system management, the corporate legal office AND the home owner of your intent. Just realize that you are probably going to burn more than a few bridges with this - so decide if that's the route you want to go.
As far as a countersuit if you are not holding any equipment or property that belongs to the company they got nothing.
BTW do not sell someone else's equipment on ebay. That is stealing the same as a contractor not paying for labor. If I were you I'd take any equipment in your possession and send it to the president of Dish Network at the corporate office and explain the issue in detail (again record and verify all box #s etc. and get a delivery confirmation)
