I have been contracting for over 10 years and have contracted for several different companies and seen alot of bs, which i have learned that can be prevented, most of the complaints i've seen and read on here are nobodies fault but your own. Phone lines for instance, make a note on the work order and have the customer sign your notations and make and keep copies of your work orders for the 60 days of the warranty. Do a phone line test when you do hook the phone line up, and dont be lazy and talk the customer out of phone lines cause its more work.
cable, check your signal level on all transponders, set yourself a standard that your comfortble that it will work under most conditions, and for the love of god remove your splitters and dont use rg59 wire. Make sure your using the same standards when running cable that you would on your own house.
leave a good impression with the customer so they are more not apt to make a complaint, give the customer a few choices how things can and should be done so that they are taking part responsibility for how your install is done.
the only real valid point ive seen here is this statement, You just keep those fingers crossed...Like I said the only charge backs I have ever occured are from customer's not staying with their contract.. we are installers and if we do are job and we are not at fault for a customer leaving the services, why should we be held responsible, our service should not be free, as far as i am concerned this should be illegal.
