FLORIDA requires contractors to obtain and maintain a specialty low voltage license when they contract to install cable and satellite tv for compensation. Fellas I need an opinion. I would like to start a campaign in FL to make it difficult for primes, hsp's and dns's to contract with subs using their ridiculous contracts with the lowest pay in the industry and treating us like employees. This would require all contractors in the state of FL to obtain and maintain a FL specialty low voltage license, which is required by the state of FL to install cable and satellite tv for compensation. This class action would do a couple of things, it could drive all primes, hsp's and dns's subs to get a FL specialty low voltage license and hire employees and no subs, keep it in house which would affect their profits. Or it could force all us subs to get the license and have a good pool of contractors that could actually drive the cost to the primes up because they could only contract to licensed contractors. Yes us professional contractors would have to get a license here in FL, but this could be the only way we can control the primes, since we don't have unions.
