Harry Reid is what this is all about. Nevada's been the recipient of the goverment's funding for the project, but Reid and his tree-huggers (in this case cave-huggers) can't control it so they shut it down. Green energy? Only if green lines the pockets of the proper people. Like Gore. Let's face it: a more secure, better engineered storage facility does not exist on earth for the 10K+ years expected for the material to be stored. Nuclear power is as clean as it gets, with a definable footprint of expected waste and absolutely controllable. We might get lucky and a conservative with 'nads steps up, gains the Oval Office and declares Yucca to be a national defense imperative, and order the site active. And in the same day's news, Saudi Arabia builds 5 nuke power plants and pays France for the technology? What's that all about? It's about the US losing the ability to perform in a competitive world environment because its own people fight progress, preferring to remain as stone-age relics. The same people who ooh and ahh at a new iPod can't fathom what it means to have the ability to actually engineer and build the thing; preferring to consume instead of compete.
