nothing but truth there...that is why its called "balancing" the system...the amps are set up in a balance between noise and distortion...pad it too low on the input and you're in noise...dont pad it enough, you're in distortion...

many people think setting up and amp is putting in the "closest" pad you have available...then adjusting the manual back off to get your outputs....and on the jerrold jlx's i have seen people equalize the low-end down to 2 or 3 db and then cranking the internal slope to get their tilt...not much balance there....then you get your field techs out adjusting actives up 3 db during the summer to cure some supposed "system" problem, then crying in the winter when cross mod and distortion is causing problems everywhere...

entire cities are designed with these very basic rules....
