The Lord is teaching us "how" to pray. He was rebuking the sadducees and the pharisees for "showboat" praying, and repetitious prayer, showing we need to pray from the heart, for your daily needs, in thanksgiving, with a humble and contrite heart, giving God the honour and glory that is due Him, and asking that He leads, guides, and protects us from that which would break fellowship with Him.
