History has not been kind recently to presidents who tackle the deficit. President George H.W. Bush lost re-election in 1992 after violating his "no new taxes" promise. His successor, Bill Clinton, lost control of Congress in 1994 after pushing through a deficit-reduction plan laden with tax hikes.
And herein lies the problem. The ego maniacs in congress have forgotten that to serve in congress is an honor, not a right. They are more concerned about re election than doing the right thing. They use the treasury like an atm to bribe us with our own money to show us they brought home our tax money. It is an insane concept, but still true.
And as far as it being Bush's fault and an inherited problem, This was an issue before the election. Obama and his people in his campaign and transition team have should have been fixing this issue since then. So it is almost a year now he has been working on it. So tell me, when you have a decrease in revenues in your home, do you go on a spending spree? Why is the government, who is using our money, any different.
And all of these new tax proposals on businesses, please tell me people don't believe that wont cost them anything, only the business will pay. Because business taxes are a farce, they are a tax on all of us because all the business does is pass it along to the consumer when you buy that good or service. Couple that with the expiration of the tax cuts and you are walking head long into an abyss.
People need to stop with the party partisanship and start worrying about country or this country will be a third world country within a generation.
