Exactly Joe ... In his post, it's obivious that the internet was there first and he did is DirecTV install after and diplexed the line.
Now he's standing there scratching his head wondering: (A) - Why the HD isn't working ... or (B) Why the internet keeps dropping off when he hooks up the HD box.
He would not have had this problem if he had done the job right the first time and RAN HIS OWN (G.D.) LINE!!
The funny part is ... Seeing how he hacked the initial install, thought he was saving time/money, thought he was being smarter than the average bear on that install .... He now gets to go back out, run the line, explain to the customer why he didn't do it right the first time, and ...AND ....(hahaha) .... DO IT ALL FOR FREE!!
All we can hope for now is that he learned a lesson in his mistake.

Both digital devices are working in the same freqency band. They each see the other's carrier wave and "noise" and thus cannot lock onto thier own freq.center point. So on your diagnostic page, I bet the Signal-to-Noise is just crap.
