If you think about it in the future, customer will pay for data useage. a phone call is just a 64kilibit data stream. movies and tv are streaming on the net: HULU and netflix it will be just a question of
1) how much the customer is willing to pay for the data
2) how reliable the customer wants their data.
Catv: less expensive, no rings (back-up),
Telco: more expensive, fiber to the home,
Wireless / cellular: most expensive, mobile, less secure, won't work everywhere
If I was to put on my future telling hat I see video service a la carte, phone service included, and customers billed for data transfer like a electrical power meter. I worked cable TV as a contractor and in-house, and now work phone.
