Obviously the fact that you dont do or havnt done directv you have know idea what these guys are talking about!
This is a company that will hand a tech 4-5 am installs then when he cant get to all of them by noon these techs get whacked with $100.00 on time guarantee charge backs because the customer calls dtv. All the management will say the same thing... just call your customers & they wont call dtv. Well that is b.s. because directv gives the customer that 100 bucks they are charging tech. The real crap is that if you work for a crappy outfit like mastec you dont make a $100 on the install its like 40-50 bucks. Its a total joke! It can often cost you $$ to work for these outfits.
Or the tech actually gets to his 4th job by noon, but the only way he can do that is with shotty work. Its a no win situation for them. Just because you had 1 good experience with a mastec tech doesnt mean that guy isnt totally abused and crapped on or you were one of his 1st jobs for the day or it was a lite day or whatever.
I am a pretty good tech I think and if I get to my first install at 8 sharp I can get to my third by noon, but only if they are smaller installs 1-2 rooms and that is with grounding, proper qc passing work and details like programming the remotes etc. That also means the route needs to be tight. Working for DTV if your a good tech you bare the brunt because really busy days you are the one the manager will hand 4 am 4 room installs and Superman himself couldnt get to them all by noon. Half the time all those installs might be in a 90 mile radius. So knock off 90+ minutes just in drive time.
With DTV if your not doing afs work your getting the shaft! If you are working AFS then you run the risk that companies are gonna shut down and bale without paying you, your stuck either way.
Work for dish!
