Re: Man sues RCN for ‘abuse’ of contract workers

When people go to work everyday, they are afforded protections, rights, and benefits, including guarantee of payment, unemployment benefits, etc.

This was intended to eliminate crooked businesses in the U.S.

 In regards to general contractors.

Yes, they can offer their services to anyone, we all have plumbing and wiring and structural needs.

However, those jobs are not filtered down through a "few" entities like they are in satellite, thus creating an unfair monopoly.

Sure, I can put a sign up that says "I install satellite", but who would bother to walk through the door ?

In the normal world, you are allowed to say "re-hireable" or "not-rehireable" thats it, you cannot ruin a persons reputation.

In the satellite world, companies like RSI and DSI "stonewall" you from working and spread gossip like wildfire.

In the normal world, if you are not paid, the State will seek treble wages for damages.

In the satellite world, they flaunt their ability to steal your money.

This industry was built through "shysters", people skirting the law. This practice has become a business model for many.

When laws were first enacted, it was to protect people from this type of abuse.

Now it's come full circle once again.
