Occasionally subs do test the active side of sonar. Which will effect marine life. I am not aware of this being done around the keys. Our subs never go "active" in a detrimental area. And when we do, it is only for a test for emergencies. I can definately see how it would disrupt a dolphins orientation. Submarines are built for stealth. We do not want to be heard. Therefore we do not use active. (ping-ping). The closest base to the keys is far away. However, dolphins are very in tune to the sounds of the ocean. Sound travels alot faster in water than it does in the air. I, picked up threatening frequencies from 300 miles away. Dolphins can do the same. It is a possibility, but highly unlikely. Salinity and temperature has alot to do with migration of sea mammals.
