Back in '04-05, I had a tech who worked for me who ended up screwing up kinda badly (always failed QC's - no customer service, etc...), and he hollered, screamed and bitched about getting his last check. I told him, "Hey, you still have this modem out, here's the serial number." He said he didn't have it, he was never issued it, etc...I showed him the sign out sheet saying he received this modem, he never installed it on an account, and he never returned it to me, otherwise he'd have an inventory sheet saying I received it back from him. Well, he starts bitching to the MSO that he works for me, I won't pay, the whole she-bang. I explained the situation to the MSO, who can understand where I'm coming from. Turns out 2 days later I get a call from him saying he found the modem and would like to turn it in so he can get his check, which I handed to him the same day he handed me the modem. Needless to say, he probably felt like world's biggest jackass. He never did call the MSO to tell them what happened. Just goes to show you though...you may not be getting paid for a reason, and if you're holding equipment that I'm responsible for - I'm not paying you until I get it back.
