Re: Do you remember?

I do not agree with you.  You are discounting a whole lot of engineers who sit around and think up things like the NEC, installation guidelines, equipment operating specifications, etc.  I would almost agree with you on the cable side because you will pretty much always get paid for any installed cabling.  But not on the satellite side when you are fully accountable to the job and custom fees come into play.  If you are using pre-existing cables inside walls that would incur a custom fee to replace, you should know how to ohm them out before you are invested in a non-paying job.  You should be checking electrical outlets since good electricity is a core installation requirement.  If there is a faulty ground and electricity is passing on the coax causing interference you will need to know how to fix it.  Satellite only pays when it is installed and working properly, period.  Service calls are an automatic chargeback regardless of the problem.  Then profitability comes into play since satellite installers provide materials.  If you do not understand the technical aspects of antenna, cable, and satellite signals you might be less profitable.  Will you install an over the air antenna, cable, satellite, a dual tuner backfeed, and a remote antenna backfeed all on the same cable?  Or is it more profitable to install another cable?  How will the grounding be installed cost effectively according to the NEC?
