Obama did apologize and rightfully so. He made a mean comment and then followed with a comment that any republican would have been dragged over the coals as racist and that is that cops have a history of targetting blacks and hispanics. How would he know that? Did he get a report just before he made the comments? He showed a bias towards a friend instead of getting the facts and insulted a man who was doing his job. The whole dept in fact by calling their actions "stupidly". I think the reports have shown that the cop did his job and Gates could have done better being the high level educated man he is.
