The problem is, the business is flooded with guys who simply don't know what they are doing. I've worked the last 2 Cox EON jobs in Phoenix and Tulsa. Way too many button pushers/picture takers, and too few techs who can actually troubleshoot, and it's giving contract sweeping a bad name. I'm sick and tired of guys turning in span replacements, when they could fix the problem by changing a connector or a passive device.
It's true the MSOs don't want to pay enough, and they continue to want more work for less money. It's also true that there are way too many yahoos running around doing crappy/substandard work, and it has a negative impact on the people out there who do the job correctly.
