When I was in the service at Floyd Bennett Airfield in Brooklyn N.Y. there was a lot of northern black widows.Not as venemous,but nevertheless still dangerous.We used to keep them in a jar and feed them other bigger bugs for fun.They were pure black with the unmistakeable red hourglass on their abdomen
