Hook..That's an old Telco standard..some of them want you to hitch the pole..say it's safer but it's a bunch of BS...a few power companys have you climb that way too..never agreed with it..I want to be able to get away from the pole if I fall..I have done it on 105 class one's when they were too big to get your arms around until I got up high enough to reach around it, then drop the belt and go..but now you have the suits setting in their office with their  BS sheepskin on the wall deciding how you climb and never touched a pole...these desk jokeys need to be on a cross country line crew working 90 and 105' H-Structures armor rodding power 12 hrs a day and then come back and tell us how to climb..do it your way brother, if they don't like it tell em to show you exactlly how to do it..that would be worth watching...
