Slavery was bad and still exists today in many forms. Our country turned the corner and rightly so. With that said, history (his-story) Doesn't accurately reflect all the facts. At least the history I was taught in school. It has been exploited for some good reasons and some bad ones. The color of a persons skin has no bearing of his character. The word "racist" has been over used and diluted. Most, these days, with the exception of certain specific hateful groups, dont really believe themselves to be superior to another because of skin color. The jewish people are an entirely different story. Not all, but from my experience, many of them believe to an extent because of religious teachings. The field is pretty well level these days. I am sure there are plenty of situations where prejudices play a hand but I believe anybody has a shot at the prize whatever that may be.
I dont believe at this point that anyone owes anyone else anything because of skin color. The flip side of the coin is that the reverse discrimination against "whites" has been over-played and really gets under many peoples skin. I understand the mentality of "now I am finally getting mine", but it is getting old. Jackson & sharpton are the biggest exploiters. Also there are still many blacks who feel they are being kept down. The reality is, if you make the right decisions and choose proper influences you can get most of what you want from life regardless of your color.
The way I see it is, if our focus is on petty devisive tactics from the takers of our liberties we are the only ones losing out. Black, white etc.
I would however like to see slavery reborn but this time make the slaves lawyers, bankers, polititians and female strippers.
I have native american heritage and could make similar claims but that was then and this is now.. Just my 6.23$
