Diplexers will work on most cases, but what you should do is just bring a second line in thru a window or door with a HF flat lead designed for that purpose, you should never use the prewire from the apt complex, as these are mostly put in by the cable company or the apt complex for cable only. The satellite should be (as most cases with apartments are) located on the balcony and either a hole drilled for your sat line or use a flat lead.
But if thats not possible, then Diplexers 'should' work...I use them all the time on the TWC cable system and havent had any issues yet,..it may make the internet slower, but unless they are gaming or streaming high end video, it shouldnt be to noticable.
