D-Day Message

Not my words. Just thought it was well said and passed it along.        2009 at 11:26 am
There is a certain irony washing ashore at Normandy this morning. The beach stained with the blood of tens of thousands to remove the fist of fascism now plays host to leaders who are marked by tragic incomprehension. Obama praises those Americans who fought and died against Fascism in Europe only to impose the same economic model at home, while returning home from a speech that plays Neville Chamberlin to the current wave of Islamofascists. The French president speaks of preserving freedom in Europe even as Europe’s demographics commit suicide and those same Islamofascists plan prayer towers for Notre Dame. Obama calls the victory “improbable” because he knows nothing of courage – only ego. And even the most fervent egotist recognizes at 4 AM that he or she is just a human being. As with those who deny the Moon landings or assign construction of the pyramids to aliens, they assume that because they can’t be bothered to be strong that no one ever has risen to great challenges with great faith. They stand in the face of something that should change any soul with undeniable force and simply write it off as luck. Those for whom the words strength, integrity, faith, and honor have no meaning look into the embodiment of those words with simple uncomprehending confusion, trying to fit square pegs into holes rounded forever by academic echo chambers of polysyllabic infantism.

There are those for whom words are the thin vessels of celestial fire and the hand of God, and flesh backs up those words, and blood writes them forever in the Earth. And there are those, as today, whose words may be put together in the same framework and be spoken in the same languages, but are lost to the wind because they are not rooted in the speaker’s integrity. Weep not for the strong dead. Weep for the insane living.
