Absolutely.
I opened up the drop ceiling, determined the center of those metal studs.
Used large self-tapping bolts, careful to not overtighten.
Installed 4 additional bolts into large drywall anchors.
Made sure there was ZERO movement in bracket and mounted TV as per usual.
This was on a 50" plasma at a very reputable luxury car dealership, but I've also used same technique many times in mobile homes. Never an insurance claim, never had one come down. I educate the EU to be aware of any "play" and report it back to me. Never a call.
As long as no one is going to attempt to hang on the TV, it will be just fine.
I agree all your extra bracing etc is superiour to my technique, but wanted to let you know it happens every single day. It's all in the physics of the install. Equal weight distribution to maximum weight supporting devices= stability and safety.
