that's a BS response from your employer.
they should have a Report that summarizes ALL of the W2 info for all their employees. Be sure to check the W2 for white-out or other weird things (and try to match it up with your paystubs, if you saved them). If you think your W2 was "doctored", tell the employer that you need a new one at their expense. And document your findings (just in case the IRS comes a calling in about 3-4 years....)
