That would explain a lot as "Methinks thou dost protest too much"!

IF, as you say, the job is 99% hands-on...how do you get paid and pay? I am a business owner who finds myself spending 30-40% of MY time doing paperwork. Also, if "certain dicks" can only troubleshoot on-site without an understanding of how the system works, they are at minimum over-billing you for their lack of knowledge and OJT; and at worse losing your customers due to excess time and parts spent finding and fixing simple problems. Some issues can be cured by the customer over the phone if you understand it. Not to mention who do you credit the return call to if no-one does paperwork?

I don't know you or your workers, but apparently life is easier on the east coast....I can hire all the loyalty I want from ESL's, but that does not mean I should use them, for they tend to be too expensive in the long run.
