You too are 100% right...but keeping the government out of your pocket is not likely to ever happen. As far as those settlements go... the money they recieved had been payed out ten times over by the state agencies before they ever received it.
Letting the government be solely responsible for the people that are acting irresponsibly is not the answer either.
They have the choice... buy em or don't buy them... it's THEIR choice. Grow your own. Smoke crab grass, whatever, it's YOUR choice. Unlike income tax, property tax, road tax, sales tax ( thats questionable to a point).
Taxes suck.... period. But I will always feel that this is a tax that should stand and if nothing else help cover the cost of burying us dumb asses that use the product.
How do you feel about your tax dollars going to all the irresponsible home owners that can't afford their mortgage?? They are being rewarded for their irresponsibility.... hows that fair to the rest of us tax payers that are making our payments and going without some of our luxurys.
Life isn't fair get used to it.
