Well good points but politicians always look for the camera. And public opinion. When they see the media putting out the public opinion, they also go with it. Being in the public eye has some influence on how they act. So I don't completely share the idea that they did what they did because that is who they were. They saw the hype with the liberals and the coverage. Especially with the bad press Bush was getting. They wanted to distance themselves from the 'party of Bush'. That had to dictate a little bit to how they acted.
