Been doing it for yrs. Might add if your mid-span I've tied off to trees, fences or anything just for added safety. It's wood/material use it at your convenience. When in doubt don't do it, it's just a piece of $hit aluminum, reconnect or etc., it will be there tomorrow your health and life may not. Good one R2.
