Re: C/N Measurements

I have never used DSAM but with that in mind, 39-43 dB C-N is not even GOOD enough for a reading at a customer. We wont accept any reading below 46 dB C-N at customer in our system. A band pass filter is sometime needed, but you do not have to go to the truck to do that. The instrument we use are a AVANTRON (capable of of 60 dB C-N) and the (TRILITHIC 860-DSPi which is capable of 52 dB C-N). Like mentionned before we've never used the DSAM. If your DSAM is capable of doing MER on digital system, that is the same as a C-N on a analog channel and this reading should be 28 dB MER or better with 256 QAM, should be a little less with 64 QAM.
