It will never make a comeback. Companies are looking at how to bring in cheaper labor. Back in the day, a technician had to have a truck and enough start up money to get by before his first check. Now, you can get company vehicle, gas card, and rental tools. So they can hire anyone they like, train them, and then let them go. JP&D hires alot of guys that are used to working at McDonalds and Walmart. When they go from 8 bucks an hour to "if I get one job in I'll make 50 bucks, thats enough to buy me a quarter and some snacks". I personally have gone over to Commercial Electrical work. They pay is alright, but its steady. Every now and then I'll do some contract work for MDU's or something special. But I realized this trade is never going to turn itself around and I wish the best to everyone out there.
