Because other that taking test and doing small little classroom projects. You "need" the real world experience of working with doing, 'splices, amplifier adjustment, return noise analysis and tracing for ingress/reception problems. That's the biggest thing that effects cable systems. Cable systems wants to know that you've been there "doin" that.
