In the same boat. As of Jan 1, 2009 going to be a employee and switching from 12-14 a week as a contractor to a wonderful $13 an hour...with a gas reinbursment. I've done both, sat and cable. Cable longer, but did DTV and Dish. Meter change of course, and really not much change. Alot of the sat installs are going hourly too, so be careful. Good luck
