Average salary of Quality Control Technician

Can anyone give me a general idea of the starting salary for a QC tech for a contract company such as FTS/Unitek? Also, what do MSOs usually pay their QC (or equivalent ranking) technicians, and exactly what are the job requirements? Obviously spot checks and on-site QCs are required, but what about follow-ups and preventative measures? What is the best way for a QC tech to do a good job and not be hated by the technicians and still maintain quality assurances to the client? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
