Homeowner's insurance or renter's insurance covers this equipment so it shouldn't cost the customer anyway. Most states require homeowner's insurance. Not having renter's insurance is the renter's problem, not the company.
Also, if you choose to live by the forest, then accept the consequences that comes with living there.
