It was in 1979, I had been out on my own for about two weeks doing installs for T.C.I. near Pittsburgh Pa. I went to a job to add an additional outlet for a customer, the line needed to be takin thru the basement to get to the splitter that was on the drop side of the house. I went into the basement and set up my stepladder and got out my new milwaukee drill and in trying to keep all wiring close together i marked a spot about 3'' from where power entered the basement and started to slowly drill thru to the outside, about the time i thought i should be thru my drill locked up and wouldn't run anymore, i went outside and after looking all over i saw a hint of the tip of the bit poking thru the power service entrance cable. Being new i was scared to let anyone know what i did so i walked to my truck and came back with my brand new 3lb line hammer with the wooden handle,''i know'' i figured i could smack the bit back thru into the basement and start over. ''I know" Well, i hit that bit pretty good and after my ears stopped ringing from the explosion i looked down at my wooden handle with no head left on it, and then i looked at the 20-30 some odd holes that that imploded hammer head had opened up in the aluminum siding of the customers house! Oh yea, i don't know how all that schrapnel missed me but it did, i caught hell but managed to keep my job.
