what is the deal

What is the deal with mso wanting to make in-house tech into sales rep? Last I knew, I was a service tech. When did I turn into a sales rep. Found out a few mso are trying to do this now for in-house quys. Like we don't have enough to do already. I know Mediacom and charter does this. Is there any others?
