If you really are unsure you can go to just about any cable tool supply website an by a 7/16 toque-wrench that is adjusted for tightening f-connectors. I got everyone of my techs one because I had the problem with some of them not tightening then enough and some of them making them too tight. The ones that are too tight don't leak signal but when you come back a year are so later you either strip the fitting trying to get it off and have to use vice-grips or you snap the port off and have to replace the face plate. Been over 3 years now and have not had any problems. They are required to use them on any f connector they install, inside or out. Also you don't run the risk of snaping the connection on the box or TV off by cranking too hard.
