What I was getting to is it sounds like a bad HDMI cable...The source switch...HDMI to Component...is only for the video tiling problem...Since component doesn't carry audio...and HDMI does...it certainly appears from the description that the HDMI cable is faulty...Of course the HDMI connection on the set could be the issue...But I would check the cable first...cheaper & faster...and the component is seperate from the HDMI...
