Re: How does a sub learn new skills?

You answered the question yourself. You have to get with a company, Sub, individual or somebody wiling to teach you. I've never met anyone who knows it all, but over the last 33 years I've listened and watched and asked question from everyone I met when learning something new. It has been an accumulation of knowledge from everyone. The day I quit learning is the day I get out of the business. I try not to get by like you said but to understand it. I really don't know what to tell you. Its not the same any more. 33 years ago it was wide open to those who wanted to go places, you had much more opportunity for advancement and alot then was trail and error. Good luck
