In my 20 years in the industry I have worked both in house and a contractor. I can not tell you how many holidays I have worked. I remember being called out at 10PM on Christmas eve because some drunk ass took out a pole and power supply with his car. Got home at 6:30 Christmas morning saw the kids open their gifts and went to bed. New Years eve 1999/2000 I spent in a headend just in case anything happened with Y2K. If your a contractor and you want off you tell your boss or MSO that you will not be available to work on such and such day AHEAD of time. Give them at least a week or two to adjust their schedule. Holidays are no secret that's why they make calenders. Don't know any boss who will argue with you about time off if given enough advance notice. As for holidays in this industry sooner or later your going to have to work one or more. It's just the nature of the beast.....don't like it you better find a new career.
If everyone is thinking alike, someone isn't thinking.
