Yep, it's called caliche. Nevada used to be part of a giant prehistoric lake called Lake Lahontan. When that lake dried up, the muddy bottom got baked in the hot sun and its dang near like concrete.
In Northern Nevada, they have dug up fossils of the Ichthyosaur which is a giant swimming dinosaur.
